Quarter One 2026 Impact

Hello, friend! I am pleased to share DSAmd’s Q1 Connection, Community, and Advocacy activities and impact, below and above. None of this is possible without the generous sponsors, donors, and volunteers who allow us to continue marching forward. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

From January - March 2026, the Down Syndrome Association of Maryland….

- Connected 700 registrations to 42 therapeutic and social programs across many Maryland counties such as Talbot, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Howard, Carroll, Baltimore City, Wicomico, Kent, and more.

- Supported building community for 303 unique individuals via those programs and services, 90% of which say they receive value from being a part of DSAmd

- Submitted testimony on 5 legislative bills that affect the Down syndrome community in Annapolis on behalf of MDAC, and we continue to monitor those which have continued to progress

- Reached 1,890 children with our free, virtual World Down Syndrome Day lesson plans

- Heavily invested in the 3-part MDAC World Down Syndrome Day advocacy activities in Annapolis

- Trained 20 teens and adults with Ds to practice expression, self-confidence, and specifically self-advocacy skills by leveraging DSAmd improvisation program framework

- Answered individualized resource guidance questions on such topics as:

  • How to prepare for Kindergarten

  • How to advocate for speech therapy from Early Intervention

  • How to submit testimony for a legislative bill that affects the whole community

  • Where to find help for medical bills

  • How to apply for services in Maryland

    … and many more.
