World Down Syndrome Day 2024 Success

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) happens every year on March 21st. Why? We celebrate on 3/21 for Trisomy 21 ...or Down syndrome!

WDSD is always an act of love, and this year was no different!

We are determined to leverage the day to improve the lives of the Down syndrome community in Maryland and beyond by:

  • Investing significantly in Advocacy. We invested ~$2,000 into the Annapolis Advocacy Event with legislators, sponsored by the Maryland Down Syndrome Advocacy Coalition to help make the event a success.

  • Helping adults with Down syndrome Build skills. We provided paid, resume-building work to 4 self-advocates to support our WDSD efforts.

  • Providing Free Classroom Advocacy Kits for Educators. We offered free classroom advocacy kits that reached 2,000 children across the state with messages of inclusion and acceptance for those with Ds. The Kits are written in alignment with the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards (MCCRS) and the Maryland Social Studies Standards!

  • Partnering with a self-advocate-led business. We took the Rock Your Socks for awareness to a meaningful level by engaging Spencer's Groovy Socks this year!

Thank you to all who sponsored, purchased socks to rock, and advocated on March 21st!
